Project Manager: Lift the Lid on Island Culture for the Isle of Wight Cultural Education Partnership

April 2018 to April 2020

Managed the delivery of this Arts Council England and Artswork funded project (around £175K) including four art commissions working with a panel of independent curators to select the artists. Educational aspects of the project included Arts Award delivery (Explore and Bronze), Artsmark for schools, event and conference management. I designed and built the Wordpress 'Lift the Lid' website, and managed all aspects of social media. I also managed a Creative Apprentice throughout the project.

Programme Leader for the Foundation Degree in Early Years - in collaboration with the University of Chichester

Working within the Childcare team, managing the Foundation Degree programme on behalf of the Isle of Wight College in collaboration with the University of Chichester. Involving teaching, planning, good communication with the partnership manager, training in new IT systems (both for IoW College and UoC). Also taught on the Level 3 CACHE Early Years programme.

Cultural Access, Learning and Participation Officer at Essex County Council, Chelmsford

Working within the Cultural Development Team, supporting and promoting education in cultural organisations across Essex.

Cross sector networking forms a key part of my work, across the eastern region and strategic partners include Royal Opera House Bridge and SHARE Museums East, arts and heritage organisations, and educational establishments.

Now the Last Poppy has Fallen was a Heritage Lottery Fund and ECC project, looking at stories of Essex during WW1. As lead project manager, the project included a touring exhibition, a blog, new poems and songs, all in partnership with museums, artists and schools.

Also worked on the ACE funded Tour de France in Essex project in 2014, with Thurrock based arts organisation Kinetika and schools, incorporating Arts Award training for teachers with ROH Bridge.

Managed Freelance Teacher Network in Essex.

Created teaching resources and sessions with a Heritage theme.

Advised museums and heritage organisations in Essex with their educational work.

Worked on various heritage projects including Heritage Lottery Funded projects like Team Hadleigh (2012) and JMT200 (Jaywick Martello Tower, 2010).

Chair of the Essex Heritage Education Group (2011 – 14).

Developed the Heritage Lottery Fund application for Jaywick Martello Tower's JMT200 project with the Tower manager.

Managed the ‘Illuminated’ project, with Essex Record Office and young carers, creating street art inspired by the archive collection.

Coordinated education programme and actively taught history and cross-curricular sessions, plus organised school holiday family activities. Delivered exhibitions with education input. Organised and ran events e.g. Slavery Remembrance Day. Wrote design brief for the new education room.

Marketed the Museum including working with designers and printers on events guide, posters, flyers, adverts and banners. Seconded to the Council’s Communications team for 6 months, working on the Borough’s news magazine, with designers (included writing a design brief and interviewing designers).
