Now the Last Poppy has Fallen
Now the Last Poppy has Fallen was a project which focused on the lives of individuals, families and communities in Essex during the First World War.
The project, funded by HLF and Essex County Council, featured a blog, new poems and songs, and was worked on in partnership with museums, Essex Record Office, schools, volunteers and artists.

Global Music and Dance Weekend 19 – 21 August 2016
supported by the WOMAD Foundation and held at Colchester Institute, Essex.
An exciting, immersive weekend of workshops and master classes which took place at Colchester Institute and Colchester Arts Centre, and funded by Arts Council.
Abass Dodoo, Mim Suleiman, Mauricio Velasierra, Ripton Lindsay and Heidi Heidleberg were the international artists involved.

Explore Culture: Schools
A guide for teachers about the cultural organisations that exist across Essex, assisting them to plan visits linked with the curriculum.
The guide was produced as a result of meeting with arts and heritage organisations in Essex with education commissioners from Essex County Council, the question being 'how can we help teachers to engage more with their local organisations, rather than travelling further afield?'
There is a booklet and an online PDF produced in June 2016.
Following the launch of the guide, I participated in a conference on Inclusion run by EES for Schools (Essex Education Service) and hosted by George Casley, for 200 ITT students. This was held at Watt Tyler Country Park on Friday 3rd March 2017, and I led a workshop on Exploring Culture in Essex, considering the implications of inclusion for the class teacher.

Tour de France 2014 - Creating the Way
In the run up to the Tour de France in the summer of 2014, the Cultural Development team at Essex County Council successfuly turned around an ACE grant application in the space of 6 weeks after it was announced that the race would come through Essex. The grant was used to commission artists to create land art in the Essex landscape, plus musicians to perform on the day.
I was able to secure funding from the Royal Opera House Bridge to work with renowned Essex-based carnival arts company Kinetika, providing schools with a silk flag making workshop, teachers with CPD and an opportunity for pupils to complete a Discover and Explore Arts Award as a discount for a class in each of 3 schools. Ten schools worked with artist Valerie Osment, who made feather banners with the pupils. Further schools worked with artist Alison Stockmar, in partnership with museums across Essex.

Essex History ThinkSpace
History ThinkSpace was a one day conference for history teachers in Essex, funded by Essex County Council and the Royal Opera House Bridge.
75 delegates came to Chelmsford Museum on Friday 21 March 2014 to find out more about the changes to the National Curriculum for history, and to plan ahead with help and advice from museums and heritage providers.
A WordPress blog and a Facebook group was set up to support the conference.
There is an article about the conference, written by Freelancer Jane Allnutt, in GEM Case Studies Vol. 12 2014.

World War 2 Heritage
The EU funded World War 2 Heritage project aimed to help people to understand the physical evidence left behind of WW2.
With a focus on Walton-on-the-Naze due to the high number of pillboxes and other evidence, I produced a guide for primary school teachers (with freelancer Rebecca Swan) and a children's story/guide to WW2 heritage across Essex (October 2012).
The project included the opportunity for three local schools to explore the WW2 heritage on their doorstep, with four days of onsite visits, plus a visit to the Essex Record Office to look at local historic documents.
